When purchasing an in-home mobility product, there is always a lot of jargon and questions around the safety features. To put your mind at ease, and without using too much technical terminology, we have outlined the most frequently asked questions and asked about features to help give you some peace of mind when purchasing a Stiltz Home Lift.
Safety Feature: Movement Safety Sensors
All Stiltz Home Lifts are fitted with safety sensors both underneath and above the lift car. These sensors detect if there are any obstructions or movement above or below, and if anything is detected, the lift won’t move or if it’s in use it will come to a smooth stop. An additional sensor included as standard is a ‘light curtain’. This is located around the entrance of the lift car (and if you have a half height door, it includes the gap between the door and the top of the lift car) and ensures if anything crosses the entrance threshold of the lift while it’s in motion, the lift will stop automatically.
Safety Feature: Fire Seal
The Stiltz Home Lift Trio+ Fire Seal has been designed to prevent the spread of a fire between floors. If the lift is parked on either floor, the lid of the lift or the underpan of the lift will form the barrier in the aperture (the hole between the floors that the lift travels through). A fire seal is only available as an optional extra on our Trio+ Home Lifts at the moment.
Question: What safety and quality standards do Stiltz Home Lifts hold?
Our product development, assembly and installation processes are certified to BS EN ISO 9001: 2015. But what does this actually mean for our customers?
For total peace of mind for our customers, everyone at Stiltz Home Lifts operates with and is held to the same (globally recognised) quality standard. This ensures that our safety processes are at the forefront of everything we do from the manufacturing of our products all the way to the installation of a lift in the home.
Question: What stops the lift from falling?
As our Home Lifts require no structural work to the property and no load-bearing wall, we often get asked what stops the lift from falling? The weight of the Home Lift is carried by two very strong steel cables, in the unlikely event they lose tension or break, our patented ‘Fall Arrest Mechanism’ kicks in and prevents the car from falling, or even moving at all.
Question: “What do I do if I experience any problems with my Home Lift?”
Every Stiltz Home Lift is installed with its own integrated phone, so in the unlikely event that it does breakdown, help is only a phone call away
The safety of our customers is paramount and that why we have a full range of safety features included in every lift as standard and we also have a 24/7 customer breakdown line that you can contact by calling 0330 222 0334.
